Working with me
I’ve spent decades crafting content and stories about the places, food, experiences and brands that make life worth living.
That work has taken me from boutique hotels in Surrey to press trips across the world, from profiling local artisans and chefs to writing about Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star properties for print and digital outlets in the UK and North America.
I founded and run Savoir There, a travel and lifestyle platform, and have been working with destinations and hospitality brands on their social media and content since before Instagram existed.
Travel, hospitality, food, arts and culture are not sectors I’ve dipped into – when I work with a brand in this space, I understand it instinctively from both sides: as the professional telling the story, and as the audience it needs to reach.
The professional behind the personal
Alongside my creative and editorial work, I’ve spent over twenty years operating at the sharp end of commercial communications across multiple industries and media channels. My experience spans national newspapers and magazines, trade publications, ambient and out-of-home media, PR firms and in-house marketing. I’m equally comfortable with everything from start-up strategy, corporate communications and press release writing to organising familiarisation trips and media events to full brand builds and digital strategy.
PR Account Manager at a specialist travel agency
Communications Director, running the full marketing and media function for a multinational software business
Freelance strategist and content creator for clients including Buckingham Palace’s King’s Gallery, the German Tourist Board, Ryanair and Kempinski Hotels
Writer for TTG and Media Week · White paper editor for World Travel Market · Panellist at ABTA
The breadth of my experience matters because it allows me to quickly identify what a brand needs – and what their positioning needs less of as well as more of – and to apply strategies from adjacent industries and platforms that a single sector or discipline specialist might never consider.
It also means I’ve handled reactive PR and reputation management under pressure – the kind of work that requires sophisticated strategic thinking and fast execution.
Cutting through the noise
One of the biggest challenges facing small and medium-sized businesses today isn’t a lack of marketing options – it’s an excess of them. The sheer volume of platforms, tools, trends and tactical advice available is overwhelming, and the audiences you’re trying to reach are dealing with exactly the same levels of noise. Without a clear strategy, it’s easy to spend months, or years, investing time, money and energy into approaches that may look credible on paper but won’t deliver in the real world.
This is what I find most satisfying about the work. I can usually see very quickly where the real opportunities are, what the red herrings are, and which instincts are worth trusting. That read – honest, experienced and commercially grounded – is often the most valuable thing I can offer a business, and it doesn’t require months of analysis to arrive at.
How I work
I’m selective about who I take on. I work with businesses I believe in, on briefs that suit my skills, with clients whose ambitions match their investment. Every engagement is scoped individually – I don’t offer fixed packages, because no two clients have the same needs, audience, starting point or goals.
An initial conversation is always free. After that, my time is charged for; whether that’s a structured discovery session, a written strategy, or the beginning of a longer engagement.
If the first conversation suggests there’s a good fit, the natural next step is usually a Savoir Session – a focused 60 to 90 minute paid consultation where I give you my honest strategic read on your business, your channels and your opportunities. You’ll leave with clarity and priorities that are yours to keep, regardless of whether we go on to work together.
If you want that thinking captured in a structured document, that becomes a Savoir Strategy – scoped and priced separately depending on the complexity of the business and the brief.
Day rates from £375 · Savoir Sessions from £250 · Retainers scoped to brief
If you’d like to talk about what I can do for your business, I’d be happy to hear from you.
