Munro Bagging

Think you’ve heard of every travel trend going? Well think again.

Because there’s a niche new travel trend for keen walkers and hikers who love exploring north of the border: and it’s called Munro bagging.

For the uninitiated, Scotland’s Munros are mini-mountains and high hills (3,000 ft or taller) with amazing views of the lochs and moors – perfect for rare wildlife spotting and soaking up the beauty of the Highlands.

Inversnaid

There’s plenty of wildlife in this part of Scotland

Bagging yourself a Munro literally means navigating to the top, to conquer the peak – whether it be on a signposted pathway at one of the easier Munros, or through forests, nature reserves and bogs for more hardy walkers.

Places like Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park are popular places to start because of their famed natural beauty but collecting all the Munros is the long term goal for many.

Loch Lomond Scenery

Named after Sir Hugh Munro, the chap who first charted the hills back in 1891, locations stretch all the way to the North of Scotland; imagine how surprised Sir Hugo would be to see maps of his namesake mountains causing such a stir in 2018.

If you fancy bagging a few Munros for yourself, or just want a beautiful map of Bonnie Scotland to adorn your wall, you can enter the competition to win this Munro Bagging Scratch Print by the expert map makers at Maps International.

To enter simply leave a comment on this post explaining which map you would choose if you won. It’s that simple. PLEASE make sure you register your entry with rafflecopter (that’s the blue box below here) so that a winner can be drawn at random. This will take place on Monday 27th November.

The winner can choose either the Munro Bagging Map or the Scottish Distilleries Map.

I’d love to know which you’d go for? Are you more into visiting Scotland for the fabulous nature and walking, or are you a whisky fan who wants to make their way round all the distilleries?
